It's a picspammy kinda day today methinks, and I think hugs & kisses is the kinda theme everyone could do with at the moment. Happy thoughts to all my flisties!

Hello all! I had a few weeks where I couldn't do much interetting due to boring reasons and then I went and discovered I'd gotten some sort blogging stage fright. It's all a bit odd. So I'm easing myself back into the swing of things with a picspam because that cures all ills. Going to catch up with replying to comments and posting the stuff I've been making lately over the next few days.

So without further ado, here's some* rather gorgeous people wearing some lovely hats. Enjoy.

*By some I mean 68 pics and gifs. Proceed with caution!

Hoorah! Hurray! And most definitely cool, cool, cool. I have missed it so much.

So it seems appropriate to post a little thing I made myself a while back, which was inspired by this moment;

I added this to my favourite grey hoodie:

Oh, LJ. You poor beleaguered thing. It'd be nice if you could hold things together for longer than about 15 minutes at a time. Maybe this time it's back for the long haul. I feel uninformed and deprived of pretty things without my flist, it's a tragedy.

I'm trying to recreate as much of my flist as possible over on dreamwidth, if you're there and I haven't found you yet, please leave me a nudge in the right direction, or add me yourself - [personal profile] anonymityblaize. I think LJ will remain my primary internet home for the time being, but I want to be prepared to jump ship if that becomes necessary.

And I have dreamwidth codes if anyone needs them, just ask. Anon commenting should be on for this post if you're having trouble staying logged in.

I had thoughts on stuff that came out of comic con, but, other than some serious flailing over Community casting news, I seem to have forgotten it all since I could last make LJ bend to my will.

I also have thoughts on the news but given that there are many people on facebook and twitter saying things about Norway, Hackgate, Amy Winehouse, and/or Somalia that are making me want to get a bit punchy I'm going to keep those opinions to myself and hopefully avoid all fist fights, literal or otherwise.

Finally saw the final Harry Potter film, and cried through most of it, as I expected I would. On the whole I think it was fantastic - I just wish the early movies could have been less craptastic so that I could have a dvd marathon one day. I suppose at least they got all the casting right - those kids have grown up remarkably well. Neville was always my favourite in the books and I think I might have started a riot in the cinema if they had messed up Neville's BAMF moment, but instead they actually managed to make movie!Neville even more badass than book!Neville which was all kinds of fantastic for me. And dammit, Matthew Lewis, stop making me feel like a total perv. Most Triumphant Emergence From Puberty indeed. And Rickman was amazing, as always. And McGonagall! Oh, Dame Maggie you are a national treasure. Sorry, my thoughts are somewhat disconnected apparently. Short version - loved it, even though I have been deeply critical of the movies up until now.

And here's some more cross stitch progress. I am rather excited now that Arthur is mostly done, and you can even see most of the guy falling away behind him. And I've reached both the right and left hand edges now. It's moving on quite quickly. Hurrah!

So. When a grown adult finds herself running away from her life to go hide at her parents' house for a week then it is time for her to admit she has a problem.

And I can no longer hide behind my belief that things can't be that bad if I'm not moaning about it on the internet when, in fact, I allude to all the stuff that is making me whinge in nearly every post. So full disclosure time - tales of my inability to acknowledge depression in the present tense, my feelings about my home turning on me, and my desire to murder all the builders.

Feel free to skip my tl;dr of woe and angst )

On the upside of life, I saw X-Men First Class and it was every bit as flail-inducing as everyone had said. It gave me FEELINGS. And many thoughts. Some of which I shall post soon (probably when I have seen it again because I so need to see it again). For now I'll just perpetrate a drive by gif dump before I run away to spend the rest of my life watching McAvoy/Fassbender interviews on youtube. Such a chore...

gotta love an insta-fandom... )

Also, Community fen, please help a girl out - where does this pic come from and are there more? Because, WANT.

NSFW if your boss won't approve of girls in lingerie spanking each other )

Also, also, I am giving tumblr another try (as it provided me with most of today's pics!). Tell me who I should be following!

Hello internets! I still exist, I just fell into a bit of a funk and went back to lurking. Life is still full of weirdness, but I really shouldn't be letting that spoil my fandom fun times. Where are my Lurkers United support group? I need y'all to help prod me into participating more! Anyway, here is some stuff I have brief belated thoughts on:

First picture of Bane: SHOULDERS. UNF. That is all.

Doctor Who 'The Doctor's Wife': Perfect episode of TV is perfect. I laughed. I wept. She was everything I wanted her to be and a million things I would never have thought of. I love her SO MUCH. HEARTS IN MY EYES!

Community 'A Fistful of Paintballs' and 'For a Few Paintballs More': Damn you show, why are you so ridiculously awesome? Because even by my standards of hyperbole and everything-being-the-best-thing-ever (see above) I am running out of ways to describe how fabulous this show is and how much I adore it. I spent most of both episodes squealing with delight. "Pop WHAT?" Troy is the absolute bestest evah.

Hawaii Five-O: WHAT? Let me go on the record as saying I hate cliffhanger finales. I want at least a modicum of closure in a finale. I'm fine with unanswered questions and teases for next season, but that was not a finale, that was a bunch of stuff thrown at my telly box that may or may not be resolved in a badass manner in four bloody months. Let's hope for the former. And more Jenna please, I like her muchly. Also, Read more... )

Attack the Block: Fantastic movie. Chavs versus aliens. That is all you need to know. Go see it.

Random celebrity encounters in my social circle: The other week I saw Jason Donovan shopping on my local high street. I was giddy, mostly because my first proper "grown-up" concert when I was about 11 was seeing him (either him or Kylie Minogue, they were the same year but I can't remember which came first). But then I was crestfallen as I was totally trumped by my nearest and dearest - a friend who works in the wine industry is having lunch with Francis Ford Coppola to discuss selling the produce of the Coppola vineyard, and filming of The Dark Knight Rises is happening outside my brother's office. I am made mostly of jealousy right now. But don't worry, I have instructed my bro to take pics of anything interesting that happens and/or kidnap me a Tom Hardy, whichever is most convenient, and he's a very good brother so he'll try his best, I'm sure!

It's a good thing I don't make actual New Year's Resolutions otherwise I'd be feeling pretty bad about that whole "I'm going to post more in 2011" thing...

I may use this journal as an outlet for moaning about why the real world is mean and isn't letting me play on the internet enough at some point soon, but for now I am being a happy bunny because I got my [livejournal.com profile] ontd_startrek Secret Santa present from [livejournal.com profile] carma_bee at the weekend and it is awesome and made me much cheerier.

secret santa 2

A plushy Adipose! Isn't he just the cutest thing? When I've got my work space reorganized I'm going to sit him on top of my computer monitor with my Spock monkey I got from last year's Secret Santa. I love Trek fandom. Y'all are amazeballs.

And here's the gift that I made:

In unrelated business, I've started posting the etsy treasuries I get featured in over on my blogger blog as I can't use script type widgets on LJ (or at least I haven't worked out how to yet). I'll link to them every so often so go have a look at some more awesome geeker crafts by me and by other people here!

And finally, it is awesome that NBC sell a Troy and Abed in the Morning mug. It is awesome that it only costs $12. It is unawesome that it would cost $24 to ship to the UK. I really don't think I can justify spending $36 on one mug. Boooo. (BTW the short version of my reaction to the latest Community episode involves a lot of high pitched squealing, hearts in my eyes and me hugging my telly because it was just that awesome.)
anonymityblaize: (troy/abed)
Lots of my favourite shows are back!

I have thoughts on them!

These thoughts are mainly of the flaily variety! And include an overabundance of gifs!

White Collar's back! Spoilers for White Collar 2.10 )

My feelings about Community can (as per usual) be mainly summed up in gif form. Spoilers for Community 2.12 )

And Being Human (the real one) is back too! Hurrah! Spoilers for Being Human 3.01 )

And as to all the Batman news - I am unsure of what I think. It's all a tumbly mix of "yay Tom Hardy with lots of muscles" but also "erm, whitewashing again, Nolan?" and a confused blend of "yay an interesting actress playing Selina" with a side dish of "please don't make her a prostitute / full on psychotic / dead / all of the above." It could all turn out bloody brilliantly (despite certain misgivings Nolan films always end up winning me over) or this could be an absolute disaster, so I'm trying to put off thinking about it. At least until the inevitable photos surface of Tom Hardy and Christian Bale play fighting on set. Then I'll just die of fangirl-joy.

Feeling a bit blue today. The obvious solution - trawl tumblr and google images looking at pretty things and then make a picspam. Hurrah!

So, More Joy day seems as good a time as any to commit myself to participating in Pay It Forward 2011:

I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They must in turn post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. *The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011.

I'll mail to anywhere, just leave a comment and I'll contact you for an address. Anon commenting is on, so if you aren't an LJ user give me a twitter name or some other way of getting in touch. I won't chase anyone to pass it on, but it doesn't have to be much, and I'm sure icons or banners or fic are in the spirit of things if you're not a crafter. And if you know someone who needs some extra joy in their life, feel free to comment and nominate someone else to receive a free wee something or other! And here's my disclaimer now - I give no guarantees of when I will find the time to do this, but I promise it will be done this year!

ETA: Between here and fb I've got five people now. Thanks for getting involved!

And if you want to help spread joy to those who aren't seeing much of it at the moment, please consider donating whatever you can afford to the Australian flood relief appeal. ETA: Or help out at [livejournal.com profile] qldfloodauction

And on a totally unrelated note (apart from the fact that it gives me much joy) Richard Ayoade is directing an episode of Community. Am dead. Am dead from awesome and joy and the fact that I am running out of appropriate gifs of joy for Community news. Yaaaaay! *runs around with flaily Kermit arms*

Spread some joy today, my dear flist!

I think tomorrow I'll get started on posting pics of some of the custom orders and handmade gifts I made in the run up to Christmas, but for now I'm just going to have a little fangirl flailing moment.

Enver Gjokaj is going to guest star on Community!

My joy can be accurately represented only in gif form. Multiply these two together and that approximates the squee in my heart right now.

Woot!

Hello, December. You always sneak up on me - are you a ninja?

There is too much good telly in the world. When did that happen? How did that happen? There are two unwatched episodes of Chuck sitting on my sky+ box, which is insane. I love Chuck! But there are so many good things that need watching just now. I genuinely think that when I fall in love with a new tv show I am undergoing the exact same chemical reaction as actually falling in love. It's such a rush.

I'm probably not helping myself by rewatching Community right now, but it's just so addictive and it makes me so happy.

Photobucket

And last week's episode of Misfits BLEW. MY. MIND. If you are not watching it, then get on that right away. Damn. I kinda want to post spoilery stuff but I shall refrain for now 'cos I think only a few people on my flist watch. For shame. But have an unspoilery gif anyway.

Photobucket

Oh, Iwan. So adorbs.

I am cold. But I am still stunned at the way Britain just falls apart when it snows. The media act like it's some sort of unheard of occurrence every single time. Madness. But it is very pretty outside. Scaffolding looks a lot less ugly with a dusting of snow and icicles hanging off it.

On the underground the other day I witnessed a part of some stranger's snow related rant. But I wish I knew the whole story.

Have finally made some progress with the cafe press shops. (Has anyone else ever sold stuff through cafe press? Is it just me or is their system a little wonky? Or just convoluted. I keep clicking links and ending up somewhere totally different from where I expected to be.)

Happy Thanksgiving to my US flisties! I hope you all have a lovely day.

Screenprinting continues to be the craft of the devil. I have completely messed up another attempt at it. Although, at least it's a completely different mistake to the one I made last time. So that's progress. Or something.

So I've gone back to doing a whole bunch of stencil stuff, which I should have ready to start posting tomorrow. Stencils have become the comfort food of my crafting time. They are reassuring and reliable and I know how to course correct when it all goes a little bit wrong. Screenprinting appears to have no margin for error. Evil craft technique. Bah.

Still having a few internet issues now and then, but I can see pictures again, which is nice.

On a completely random tangent, how ridiculously amazing is Community? I am totally late to this revelation, but it made for a really fun week of just barreling through all the episodes. And even though I had heard about everyone going crazy over the paintball episode, it was still even more awesome than I had anticipated. It's like the bastard love child of Arrested Development and Spaced. A sexy, funny bastard love child at that.

I am having problems right now picking which Community icons I want to add. (Although this has been made easier by noticing my userpic limit went up from 35 to 40 at some point in time. When did that happen? Why did that happen? I like it though, so I'm not complaining!)

And seriously, how amazing is Community? It is this amazing:
(Woo hoo! I made photobucket work for me again. Hurrah.)
