There's a Beeb meme based upon Mitch Benn's Proud of the BBC! I must do it. (ganked from [livejournal.com profile] calapine)

Below is a list of all the shows mentioned in Mitch Benn's I'm Proud of the BBC. Bold = love (or have loved) it, Plain text = neutral, Strike through = never seen / listened to.

Newsround - I would know nothing if it weren't for John Craven
Newsnight
iPlayer - without the iPlayer I would not be able to listen to all the radio that I do (until someone invents something like tivo or sky+ for radio). The darn thing still needs some tweaks, but no one else is trying to offer so much varied content ad-free, so I forgive it its occasional bizarre technological freak-outs.
Website - best news resource out there.
Toni Arthur
Brian Cant
Spooks
Adam Adamant
Postman Pat
Blackadder
Hancock
Yes Minister
Later with Jools Holland
Pride and Prejudice
Hitchhikers Guide
- (slightly OT, but BBC4 are adapting Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency for telly with Stephen Mangan. This brings me geeker joy.)
World Service
Stewart Lee
Mr Benn
Casualty
6 Music
Glastonbury - and I'd include all the coverage of big music events that I'm unlikely to go to.
Horrible Histories
Dennis Potter - There is not enough bold in the universe to indicate how much I love Dennis Potter's work. Karaoke and Cold Lazarus were pivotal moments in my teenage years, and if you're in any way interested in writing you MUST watch The Singing Detective (the original show not the RDJ movie, although it isn't nearly as awful as I'd feared)
C-Beebies
Quatermass
Two Ronnies
The Thick of It
Radio 3
Open University
Mark Kermode & Simon Mayo
- "Hello to Jason Isaacs!"
Round the Horne - I probably would never have known what Polari was if my grandparents hadn't been huge Round the Horne fans when I was a child. Which would probably have had a knock on effect on my burgeoning political outlook.
Goon Show
Blakes 7
Dick and Dom
Last Night of the Proms
Gardeners' Question Time
Last of the Summer Wine
Steptoe and Son
Clangers
The Young Ones
Edge of Darkness
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - I am currently torn between "they better not screw up the remake" and "I don't even care, the remake has Tom Hardy and Mark Strong and Benedict Bumbersnatch Cumberbatch, it can be as crap as it wants".
Letter from America
The Mighty Boosh
QI
- I like that something so very nerdy is massively popular. Only on the Beeb would that happen.
Panorama
Bagpuss
I Claudius
Absolutely Fabulous

John Motson
Red Dwarf
Our Friends in the North
Culture Show
Woman's Hour
Charlie and Lola
Alan Partridge
Sherlock

News at 6 o'clock
Live Aid
Likely Lads
Michael Palin
No ads
- damn right I love that about the Beeb
This Life

That's Life
Life on Earth
The Good Life
Captain Pugwash
Tony Hart
Til Death do us Part
Ken Bruce
News Quiz - I adore the News Quiz. I love Sandi Toksvig and have quite the girl crush on Sue Perkins. How often are there two women on a panel show, let alone two lesbians? The answer is, every other week on the News Quiz and pretty much nowhere else.
Keeping Up Appearances
Outnumbered
Miranda
Who Do You Think You Are?
Kirsty Wark
Jeremy Paxman
Parkinson
Wogan
Tripods
Fireman Sam
The Ascent of Man
One Foot in the Grave
Ben (Miller) and Xander (Armstrong)
Rob (Webb) and Dave (Mitchell)

Antiques Roadshow
David Attenborough
Bruce Forsyth
The League of Gentlemen
Have I Got News for You

Hairy Bikers
Being Human
In the Night Garden
You & Me (Me & You)
Monty Python - greatest comedy show OF ALL TIME
Doctor Who -
greatest sci fi show OF ALL TIME
Top Gear
Merlin
Ivor the Engine
Watchdog
Wimbledon
Springwatch
Formula 1
Blue Peter - I've got a Blue Peter badge! I came second in a competition in 1989. I was very proud.
Swap Shop
Five Live
Top of the Pops
Trumpton
The Archers
That Was The Week That Was
The Goodies

Songs of Praise
- this is an interesting one. I don't watch it, I'll probably never watch it, but no-one else would broadcast such a thing, and it clearly matters to a number of Christians so I'd defend it and gladly have my license fee go towards it. It is exactly the kind of niche programming we would lose without the BBC. And the BBC should be for everyone, not just me.
World at One
The Day Today
I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue - For quite a while my Facebook profile picture was me in front of the Mornington Crescent underground sign. Only about 3 of my friends had the slightest clue why I found that so amusing.
Not the Nine O'Clock News
Nationwide
Mr Men
Eastenders
- Am more of a Corrie girl these days, but I used to watch 'stenders a great deal back in the day (i.e. after they'd killed off Den the first time, but before they murdered him the second time.)
Bottom
Gary Lineker
Radio 1 - Oh, radio one, you make me feel so old now, but I loved you once.
Radio 2
Ripping Yarns
Johnny Ball
Test Match Special
Bergerac
Perfect Day
Radio Active
Howard's Way
Jeremy Hardy
Final Score
(everything on) BBC4 - They will take BBC4 from my cold dead hands. I will riot to protect it.*
Only Fools (and Horses)
Sky at Night
Shooting Stars - Eranuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Pete(r Cooke) and Dud(ley Moore)

Teletubbies
Life on Mars
Radcliffe and Maconie
Jackanory
A Bit of Fry and Laurie
Children in Need Appeal
Douglas Adams
John Peel -
Yet again, only on the BBC would he have been able to play such diverse music, and expose people to things they may otherwise have never heard.

*And I feel I must add a final thing - Only Connect. It is the hardest quiz show ever I am sure. It is the Ninja Warrior of knowledge based quizzes. When I get one, maybe two answers right it makes me feel like a genius. When I get several answers right I could ride that high for days. One round of the show is available on the website so check it out for yourself

Seems like the BBC is ridiculously good value to me.

And on a completely different note...

It's the Tom Hardy super combo of adorableness. Play fighting AND a cute kid. *dead*

Indeed. I will never ever get bored of seeing Cleese and Palin slap each other with fish, to name but one sketch seared into my brain!

This is super adorable, but for the life of me I CANNOT stop staring at T-Hards' ass. And thighs. And those pants in general. And his panty line. ~D:

His need to playfight with everyone just kills me.

I'm awaiting the day we get pictures of him playfighting with a tree or some other inanimate object!

*edited because Tom Hardy renders me incapable of spelling simple words!

Your icon = YUM. How have I never seen that pic before? Also, note to self: need more Hardy icons.

He has the magical power of making everything seem infinitely sexier, including blowing smoke. I've become such a Hardy icon collector. I should feel ashamed, but I don't. :P

Oh dear God. This is like the first time I discovered TV Tropes. The rest of my life will consist of scrolling and clicking. Internet forever!

Damn you! Thank you!
