Hello all! Am not dead, merely busy. Sorry for not being around more, this should change soon. Here, have a sequel picspam by way of apology!

Hello all! I had a few weeks where I couldn't do much interetting due to boring reasons and then I went and discovered I'd gotten some sort blogging stage fright. It's all a bit odd. So I'm easing myself back into the swing of things with a picspam because that cures all ills. Going to catch up with replying to comments and posting the stuff I've been making lately over the next few days.

So without further ado, here's some* rather gorgeous people wearing some lovely hats. Enjoy.

*By some I mean 68 pics and gifs. Proceed with caution!

Me, At Some Nebulous Time In The Past: I become aware of an actor called Channing Tatum. He was quite good in Stop Loss, but he was awful in GI Joe. Admittedly, everyone and everything was awful in GI Joe.* But the salient fact is that I form an opinion on Channing Tatum, and that opinion is that he has a stupid face.

Me, A Few Months Ago: I go see Haywire and enjoy it tremendously. I have lots to say on the subject of how much I like Gina Carano, and it turns out I really enjoyed watching Channing Tatum's stupid face get punched by a hot girl. Later when reading more about Haywire, I find out that Channing Tatum and his stupid face are making another film with Soderberg about his actual facts past as a stripper, featuring a whole bunch of hot actors. I am both confused and intrigued. I put the matter from my mind.

Me, Three Weeks Ago: Channing Tatum still has a stupid face. I am looking for something to watch and the Eagle is available on the anytime+ and lots of people on my flist wrote fic about that movie, so I'm sure I can put up with Channing Tatum's stupid face for the length of the movie.

Me, Three Weeks Minus the Length of the Movie Ago: Channing Tatum's face remains stupid and it's a bit weird being a Scottish person watching a movie about the Romans being generally terrified of my ancestors, but I really liked that. Maybe I should hunt down some of that fic, and be less judgemental of Channing Tatum and his stupid face in the future...

Me, Two Weeks Ago: “Channing Tatum and his stupid face were in a stupid dance movie? I love stupid dance movies! Maybe I should check that out...”

Me, One Week and Three Days Ago: My friend lends me Step Up.** I watch Step Up. It was a stupid dance movie in all the best ways. And it would appear that while his face is quite stupid, the rest of Channing Tatum moves in ways very pleasing to the eye. Suddenly the whole stripper thing makes a great deal of sense.

Me, Less Than A Week Ago: I go see 21 Jump Street. I laugh considerably more than I expected. And I find, that somehow, inexplicably, I have totally become a Channing Tatum fangirl despite his stupid face.

Me, Last Night: *Find all the Channing Tatum tumblrs!* I <3 his stupid faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!

It is a very odd life, this fangirl thing.

*I'm still going to see the GI Joe sequel though. Because I am a glutton for punishment, and they’ve added the Rock and Adrienne Palicki to the cast. I am easily swayed by the most random of things.

**By my friend I mean the internet.

I appear to have some sort of home delivery curse. We had a sofa take nearly 3 months to turn up. Food delivery folk need to call us for directions every time we order, because google maps doesn't know our street exists, most sat nav systems direct deliveries up the lane, which is only a means of access to our building on foot, and some ordinance survey maps have our street name spelt wrong (oddly, this never confuses postmen or courier services). And now the new laptop I have ordered isn't coming on the day it was meant to be delivered for a totally unknown reason because the message they left asked me to call them back on a phone number that is not actually a valid phone number. And no one else seems to have any record of my order. Aaaaargh.

So I'm falling back on my old coping mechanism - a random picspam of hot boys.

Hello, boys )

Yum. That made me feel much better.

ETA: *pets LJ on the head* Poor LJ. Maybe one day some overenthusiastic fangirls will take down Putin just to make you stable once more.

ETA2: Apologies for momentary cut failage! *hits html with hammers*

As I sit awaiting the delivery of a magical sofa (It somehow managed to disappear from a depot on the day it was supposed to be delivered nearly a month ago, and it has led them on a merry chase since. I suspect it is related to the Simpsons' couch.) I couldn't think of a better way to spend my time than, yup, you've guessed it, picspamming.

Today's theme is the rather self-explanatory "Sexy People Who Are Wearing Gloves In a Sexy Manner."

Warning for those on slow connections - over 60 pics this time (not very many of them gifs). And one or two pics that may be NSFW depending on the liberalness of your employer.

Technologies throughout my home are failing and breaking and generally causing me irritation, but for once my computer and the internet are robust, so what's my usual cure for woe?

Picspams!

You could argue that the smoking picspam is already a picspam of oral fixation, but I'm fine with any excuse for yet another theme or subcategory of picspammage. Any excuse at all!

So, here's a picspam that ended up becoming mainly a James McAvoy and Tom Hardy picspam, with some other lovely people sandwiched in between, and a rather lovely preponderance of toothpicks and bottles. (Warning: over 100 pieces of yumminess in this post, many of them gifs.) Enjoy!

So that "I might make a Michael Fassbender smoking picspam" idea turned into this behemoth attractive people smoking post. I have no idea why I have spent so long on this. I make poor life choices. I blame enabling enablers who enable. And also Michael Fassbender.

I hereby disclaim that smoking is BAD and WRONG, kids, so click no further if this picspam will bother you. And also if you are on a slow connection because there are at least 80 something pics and gifs up in this post.

And now I will leave you with an unfortunately poor quality gif of one of the most romantic moments in cinema history, in my humble opinion. If you find attractive people smoking attractively an aesthetically pleasing experience then you must watch Now, Voyager. Go! Watch it! It's a fabulous film.

I keep trying to write a post about X-Men First Class and I just keep deleting the whole thing and starting again. It's bizarre - part of me wants to write serious meta about STUFF and THOUGHTS, and then part of me just wants to flail around typing incoherent rubbish about my FEELINGS and LUSTS. So instead, here, have a picspam about hats. IDK, it made sense in my head.

Hats. I bloody love hats. I have a lot of hats and I love them all. Everyone should wear more hats. Everyone would wear more hats if I were in charge. And attractive men should definitely wear hats.

Like so:

Photobucket

Lots of pics of Fassbender in hats with guest appearances from other people in hats... )
Despite having spent what feels like most of the week on youtube I still have not watched all of the Fassbender/McAvoy interviews in existence. It's a tragedy. I am slowly working my way through this amazing link post. I will have watched them all eventually. Oh. yes.

Weird week.

Bad Things:

1. I have a pile of roof in my back garden and not much roof on my roof.

2. It keeps threatening to snow and I don't trust the tarpaulin to keep us all dry.

3. I want to kill all the builders.

Good things:

1. I have actual bidders for my [livejournal.com profile] help_japan  offers here and here. Woo hoo! I was genuinely worried no-one would want to bid on my stuff. Go see if there's anything you want to bid on!

2. So, that whole "I should cross post my craft stuff to comms" thing. I should have been doing that forever ago. I got two pages worth of comments on my geeky lamp once I'd replied to them all! I've never gotten more than a dozen comments before let alone that many. It's awesome. Although I have now turned into a comment-whore who constantly checks her inbox. Oh well!

3. I seem to not be alone with the whole "accidental fandom" relationship with Hawaii Five-0. Therefore I must picspam.

Many, many pics of pretty... )

Yeah, so, that happened. And this ended up on my shower door.

Photobucket

I am still new to these waters so please feel free to comment-picspam me into catching up!

This is a post! Pretend I didn't say I was going to do it on Friday! Or pretend it still is Friday! That one might be even better.

My life continues to be weird and stressful, but I'm not helping myself by being disorganised and procrastinating. I seriously need to sort out my time-management skills.

Like, for instance, why did I choose to stay up until nearly 5am last night to watch the Oscars? It wasn't even a particularly good show. Its very strangeness was somewhat entertaining in an awkward way, but I am now regretting watching it live.

Anyway.

Just over a week ago (see - I lack prompt posting skills) I got the chance to see Submarine at the Glasgow Film Festival. It's the directorial debut of The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade and (spoiler alert!) I really loved it. And I now totally and utterly adore him.

Submarine is probably being described over and over with the words "coming of age story" and "teenage romantic comedy", but I don't think they quite cover its offbeat qualities. It's kind of like a British Napoleon Dynamite as directed by someone from the French New Wave movement. It is very, very funny, and really quite sweet in how it captures the awkwardness of being a teenager. I felt it tread a really nice line in being quirky without becoming annoying, and being hilarious without making me cringe with secondhand embarrassment. And for such a low-budget feature it looked gorgeous.

The teenage leads are played by Craig Roberts (recently seen as Adam in Being Human) and Yasmin Paige (who was Maria on the Sarah Jane Adventures, which took me ages to realise and then promptly made me feel very old), and they both give fantastic performances. We'll be seeing more of them on our screens. Paddy Considine is also fantastic in it, but Paddy Considine is never not fantastic so this is a redundant sentence.

But here's the part where I stop being coherent about the film and just start fan-girling over how much I love Richard Ayoade. He introduced the film and gave a Q&A at the end, and I don't know that I learned much about the making of the film from him, but I did learn that he is the cutest thing I ever did see and I want to keep him in my pocket for ever and ever. He's clearly a bit shy and only doing this sort of stuff to help promote the film, but his coping mechanism seems to be self-deprecating humour and he is a very, very funny man. Even though he barely answered a single question put to him, I think every person left the room slightly in love with him. (I feel this interview he gave earlier the same day best sums up his adorable randomness.)

Look, even the lady from the GFT can't help gazing at him! (More pics here).

In summation, awesome man makes awesome movie. Submarine is released in the UK on the 18th of March and I'd recommend you go see it!

For some reason I don't really understand, I have some sort of post-craft-project-completion ennui. It all feels very anti-climactic to have finished my Serenity cross stitch, and I got a bit down after posting it. I am weird.

So, here's my default antidote for feeling like I have nothing to add to the internet but yet more moaning: an absolutely random pic spam of hot people who make me smile.

Random hot people being hot... )

Please share some stuff in the comments that makes you happy  -  pictures, gifs, vids, whatever!

Random post is random and has bullet points.

· My Serenity cross stitch is FINISHED! Hallelujah. Shall have it all prettified and posted tomorrow probably. Such a weight off my shoulders. (Although I am, of course, now bereft of things to do with my hands and am plotting my next project.)

· Screen printing attempt number one was an absolute disaster of monstrous proportions. But I'm trying again. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, however, I'm getting stuff organised to put some of my dictionary definition t-shirts on cafepress at some point this week.

· After Friday's post, I wanted to add some more linkspam on the #twitterjoketrial - Charlie Brooker does what he does best (that'd be misanthropic hyperbole and reductio ad absurdum in the face of idiocy), and here's an idea of how the whole thing could have been avoided (bonus points for random Gary Oldman as the Police).

· New Take That album is out and I love it so. Has a very Scissor Sisters meets Muse vibe about it, which I heartily approve of. SOS and Kidz seem to be my favourite tracks so far. I think it'll make for a fantastic tour. Roll on June!

· Oh sweet baby Jesus waiting for a palfrey: This Means War is going to knock me over with hottness. I have a terrible weakness for pretty boys getting beat up on screen. Yum.

· And finally, a t-shirt I didn't want to post until it had been gifted:

Edited umpteen million times because the LJ cut hates me.
anonymityblaize: (inception)
The real world continues to give me grief. This week's crafting experiments have been unmitigated disasters. (T-shirt transfer paper didn't work so well and t-shirt transfer paste is of the devil.) I am now moving on to trying screen printing, which for some reason I am very scared of. (I think it's because all the instructions are so convoluted. I'm sure it'll be like poker - when you explain the rules of poker to someone it sounds like gibberish, but if you just play and explain as you go it all starts to make sense.)

But I am not moaning today. No siree.

Today the internet decided to be full of awesomesauce so that I would not be filled with despair.

Tom Hardy and Chris Pine Together At Last )

Chris Pine - are you trying to kill me dead from hotness?

Because you might succeed )

Martin Freeman is Bilbo Baggins. Richard Armitage is Thorin Oakenshield. Aidan Turner is Kili. Am I allowed to get excited now? Is this film really going to happen?

Also, Buffy cast doing awkward family photos. The one of Nic Brendon staring unfocusedly into the distance will never be unfunny.

And finally. Best. Gif. Ever. )
anonymityblaize: (ryan finger)
I want to fire this week. I want to disown this week. I want to dump this week in a tank of evil mutated sea bass. I want to remove this week's heart with a rusty spoon. I want to build a time machine, go back in time, and kill this week's grandfather. I want to fight this week to the pain. (Its ears it'll keep, and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing this week's hideousness will be its to cherish. Every babe that weeps at its approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God, what is that thing?" will echo in this week's perfect ears. That is what "to the pain" means. It means I leave this week in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.)

Does this perhaps begin to hint at the fact that this week has not been a fun week?

The world at large is being very depressing right now, and my own life is just full of little annoyances adding up to major headaches. I cannot escape building work. There are builders outside. There are builders inside. The dirt is coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE, people. No kitchen for four days makes Ms Blaize go something, something. (And it'll be five days before they're actually done.) And mopping the hall every night for four days is also with the crazy-making (although we have concluded that it's way less hassle than giving a cat a bath). I will be spending most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday actually, literally cleaning ALL THE THINGS, but right now that is an exciting, happy weekend to look forward to. I may well be losing my marbles here. I am so behind on every single thing I was meant to get done this week. Grr argh.

Also, some bastards have stolen [livejournal.com profile] rooferrocks's magnificent Wireopoly idea. I like hers better.

On the brighter side of life, James Franco continues to be fascinating to me:
Photobucket

And Tom Hardy now has his own tag at ONTD. I may never need to visit the mainpage ever again.

(Side note: James Franco and Tom Hardy NEED to make a movie together, yes/yes? The promotional interviews alone would be the most randomly hilarious things ever.)

Right, the last time I was grumpy and in charge of a keyboard and a photobucket account I made a Tom Hardy picspam post and it made me happier, so I'm gonna try that again. (See, any old excuse...) Please picspam me mucho in the comments - it will make me less likely to post more emo nonsense "woe-is-me" pity party type stuff!

I saw Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake tonight. Spoiler: IT WAS AWESOME. I am so full of flaily capslocky joy.

It was so beautiful. It lived up to what I expected it to be and yet somehow was also nothing like what I expected. I'm going to need to see it again at some point, but for now I will make do with ordering the DVD.There was just so much detail, and so much going on on stage, that I'm sure there's a million things I didn't get. And so much nuance in the choreography. Ooh, I could wibble about this for quite some time. SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!

(And I have not even begun to flail about the hotness yet. Humina.)

I am feeling a bit down and grumpy today. And I have a friend who does not yet understand the appeal of Tom Hardy. This seems to add up to as good a reason as any to embark on an epic Tom Hardy post.

Lots of pics and fangirling behind the cut. You have been warned. )

Apologies to anyone who saw this whilst I was having a small fight with youtube, LJ and html in general! And that whole LJ cut fail thing, sorry!

So, finally, my thoughts on the movie that has taken occupation of my brain. (That's Inception, just in case you hadn't noticed.) Took me a while to muster all my thoughts, and I'm sure to have missed plenty of stuff. This is gonna be hella long and rambles all over the place, so I'm sorry for that. My adoration for and obsession with this film though, not going to apologise for that.

(I am however going to acknowledge that my thoughts have been influenced by the many amazing reaction posts I've read on my flist, so if I've stolen your awesome insight it's only cause it was so awesome!)

Here Be Spoilers And Gratuitous PicSpam )
anonymityblaize: (JGL)
I have craft related stuff to do, and craft related stuff to post, but instead I am mostly on the internet being an Inception fangirl. The spoiler-free version of my reaction goes thusly: ohmygod, ohmygod, so cool, ohmygod, sweetmotherofhottness, ohmygod, ohmygod, wtfbbq you cannot end it like that, ohmygod you ended it like that, I love you Nolan and your twisted mind of wonder. A spoilery and slightly more coherant post is on my to do list. Probably after I've seen it again.

Also, I love you internets, you are made of awesome and hilarity:

very minor spoilers )

And there was Arthur/Eames fic up within 4 days of the movie being out. Bravo internets, bravo.

And one last unrelated pic spam to the tune of my yearly moan "fml, why am I not at comic con?"
