I appear to have some sort of home delivery curse. We had a sofa take nearly 3 months to turn up. Food delivery folk need to call us for directions every time we order, because google maps doesn't know our street exists, most sat nav systems direct deliveries up the lane, which is only a means of access to our building on foot, and some ordinance survey maps have our street name spelt wrong (oddly, this never confuses postmen or courier services). And now the new laptop I have ordered isn't coming on the day it was meant to be delivered for a totally unknown reason because the message they left asked me to call them back on a phone number that is not actually a valid phone number. And no one else seems to have any record of my order. Aaaaargh.
So I'm falling back on my old coping mechanism - a random picspam of hot boys.

For the first time ever I've managed to exceed my bandwidth allowance with photobucket so all my fandom picspams are useless until Friday (I think that's the day my account rolls over to a new month) and I haven't replied yet to any comments on the last one because I feel like I have to reply with pics to picspam comments. It's my own stupid rule but for some reason I feel like I have to abide by it! I'd be quite pleased with myself if it weren't for the fact that I haven't actually used all that bandwidth by just sharing my flaily joy - quite a lot of it seems to have been used up thanks to people hotlinking images. Is there any way to prevent that sort of thing happening? I think I'm most affronted by how messy that "bandwidth exceeded" image makes everything look. Harrumph. I can't really justify buying a pro photobucket account for my fandom stuff when I already pay for a flickr account for my crafts stuff. At least that means all the crafts posts look ok. I'm going to move my moodtheme pics somewhere else so that they're not part of the problem but I'm not sure they really use all that much bandwidth. Oh dear, this is very much a first world problem and I shall shut up about it now!

I suspect it is related to the Simpsons' couch.) I couldn't think of a better way to spend my time than, yup, you've guessed it, picspamming.

A Picspam of Oral Fixation
Sep. 12th, 2011 03:48 pmTechnologies throughout my home are failing and breaking and generally causing me irritation, but for once my computer and the internet are robust, so what's my usual cure for woe?

You could argue that the smoking picspam is already a picspam of oral fixation, but I'm fine with any excuse for yet another theme or subcategory of picspammage. Any excuse at all!
So, here's a picspam that ended up becoming mainly a James McAvoy and Tom Hardy picspam, with some other lovely people sandwiched in between, and a rather lovely preponderance of toothpicks and bottles. (Warning: over 100 pieces of yumminess in this post, many of them gifs.) Enjoy!

I have thoughts on them!
These thoughts are mainly of the flaily variety! And include an overabundance of gifs!
White Collar's back! ( Spoilers for White Collar 2.10 )
My feelings about Community can (as per usual) be mainly summed up in gif form. ( Spoilers for Community 2.12 )
And Being Human (the real one) is back too! Hurrah! ( Spoilers for Being Human 3.01 ) And as to all the Batman news - I am unsure of what I think. It's all a tumbly mix of "yay Tom Hardy with lots of muscles" but also "erm, whitewashing again, Nolan?" and a confused blend of "yay an interesting actress playing Selina" with a side dish of "please don't make her a prostitute / full on psychotic / dead / all of the above." It could all turn out bloody brilliantly (despite certain misgivings Nolan films always end up winning me over) or this could be an absolute disaster, so I'm trying to put off thinking about it. At least until the inevitable photos surface of Tom Hardy and Christian Bale play fighting on set. Then I'll just die of fangirl-joy.

· My Serenity cross stitch is FINISHED! Hallelujah. Shall have it all prettified and posted tomorrow probably. Such a weight off my shoulders. (Although I am, of course, now bereft of things to do with my hands and am plotting my next project.)
· Screen printing attempt number one was an absolute disaster of monstrous proportions. But I'm trying again. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, however, I'm getting stuff organised to put some of my dictionary definition t-shirts on cafepress at some point this week.
· After Friday's post, I wanted to add some more linkspam on the #twitterjoketrial - Charlie Brooker does what he does best (that'd be misanthropic hyperbole and reductio ad absurdum in the face of idiocy), and here's an idea of how the whole thing could have been avoided (bonus points for random Gary Oldman as the Police).
· New Take That album is out and I love it so. Has a very Scissor Sisters meets Muse vibe about it, which I heartily approve of. SOS and Kidz seem to be my favourite tracks so far. I think it'll make for a fantastic tour. Roll on June!
· Oh sweet baby Jesus waiting for a palfrey: This Means War is going to knock me over with hottness. I have a terrible weakness for pretty boys getting beat up on screen. Yum.

Here are some things
Nov. 11th, 2010 12:33 amI seem to have dropped off the interwebs for a few days there. It was odd. I love you, interwebs, I shall never leave you again.
Also odd - as of this weekend, I can add wild boar, springbok, kangaroo and zebra to the list of animals I have eaten. I drew the line at trying baby octopus, which I am aware is an utterly arbitrary point at which to have drawn anything, but there you go. (If you're interested, zebra tastes a bit like venison but sweeter, and, disappointingly, the meat is not stripy.)
Scotland is cold and dark. I should have become accustomed to this by now, but every autumn I am befuddled and confused by this fact.
In happier news, my Serenity cross stitch is moving at light speed now, which is ironic. Will post a pic tomorrow, and it should be finished soon.

Oct. 22nd, 2010 04:15 pmThe real world continues to give me grief. This week's crafting experiments have been unmitigated disasters. (T-shirt transfer paper didn't work so well and t-shirt transfer paste is of the devil.) I am now moving on to trying screen printing, which for some reason I am very scared of. (I think it's because all the instructions are so convoluted. I'm sure it'll be like poker - when you explain the rules of poker to someone it sounds like gibberish, but if you just play and explain as you go it all starts to make sense.)
But I am not moaning today. No siree.
Today the internet decided to be full of awesomesauce so that I would not be filled with despair.

Oct. 15th, 2010 05:54 pmSince news of Tom Hardy's involvement in the third Batman movie broke, a lot of people have been bemoaning Nolan's propensity to hire the same actors over and over. Personally, I like that he does (hey, I'm a fan of Joss Whedon and Orson Welles and Christopher Guest - I am very, very used to this by now). Also, Tom Hardy. So I'm obviously pleased. But it made me think about why actors would want to work with Nolan again and again.
Let us compare and contrast [emphasis mine].
Tom Hardy on his experience on RockNRolla (in his own inimitable style):

Now, I found RockNRolla an entertaining watch (It is, however, not actually a movie. It is a string of scenes, put together in something resembling an order, some of which are fantastic, some of which are utterly pointless. And ultimately it seems to be all prologue for a sequel that is unlikely to ever exist.), and I liked Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes far more than I expected to. But this just goes to show why I adore Nolan's films and merely enjoy Ritchie's. It isn't enough for a director to have great visual flair, they've got to be able to connect with their actors, so that I can connect with their characters. If you're going to pay actors millions of dollars per film, the least you can do is allow them to actually act for their money.

Oct. 7th, 2010 04:09 pmI want to fire this week. I want to disown this week. I want to dump this week in a tank of evil mutated sea bass. I want to remove this week's heart with a rusty spoon. I want to build a time machine, go back in time, and kill this week's grandfather. I want to fight this week to the pain. (Its ears it'll keep, and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing this week's hideousness will be its to cherish. Every babe that weeps at its approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God, what is that thing?" will echo in this week's perfect ears. That is what "to the pain" means. It means I leave this week in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.)
Does this perhaps begin to hint at the fact that this week has not been a fun week?
The world at large is being very depressing right now, and my own life is just full of little annoyances adding up to major headaches. I cannot escape building work. There are builders outside. There are builders inside. The dirt is coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE, people. No kitchen for four days makes Ms Blaize go something, something. (And it'll be five days before they're actually done.) And mopping the hall every night for four days is also with the crazy-making (although we have concluded that it's way less hassle than giving a cat a bath). I will be spending most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday actually, literally cleaning ALL THE THINGS, but right now that is an exciting, happy weekend to look forward to. I may well be losing my marbles here. I am so behind on every single thing I was meant to get done this week. Grr argh.
Also, some bastards have stolenrooferrocks's magnificent Wireopoly idea. I like hers better.

Right, the last time I was grumpy and in charge of a keyboard and a photobucket account I made a Tom Hardy picspam post and it made me happier, so I'm gonna try that again. (See, any old excuse...) Please picspam me mucho in the comments - it will make me less likely to post more emo nonsense "woe-is-me" pity party type stuff!

Well, I did indeed decide to add "darling" to my "specificity" t-shirt. (Of course I did, I have no idea why I thought I might not.)
I have also let my imagination run away with me on many other definition shirts, which I'll post over the next few days, once I'm done swearing at photoshop. (I seem to spend an inordinate amount of my time arguing with technology.)

And also unrelatedly, why did no-one tell me how good Misfits was? I just mainlined the whole first series in two days. I think I may hate the E4 trailer people because it didn't look like the sort of thing I would like, but I was spectacularly wrong about that. It was fantastic, funny, twisted and really, really good. And it made me rant again about what a waste of potential Heroes was, because in just 6 episodes, Misfits managed to do right what Heroes couldn't manage in four years. But the upside of being late to this party is that I only have to wait a month or so for season two. Hurrah! Now to go hunt down Misfits fandom...

In completely unrelated news, there is a creeping creeper who creeps working on our building. He keeps choosing the oddest places on the scaffolding to stop for a break, and stares through the window while I am trying to work. If he does it again tomorrow there will be yelling and stroppy closing of curtains. Blech.
